There is one for every shingami, but in the episodes they only show two.

Acctualy, there was 3. One of them was Jealous' (the one Miza acctualy used). Rem kept his with him (and used to Kill K and L), And Ryuk's.

Grim Reapers are way more practicle than Shinigamis.

the one Ryuk had Jolly Roger, wasn't even his.He stole it from another shinigami in the shinigami realm who came 2 retrieve it or else he would die because if he didn't take away the remaining life-span of a human, he soon would die.so even though there are 3 death notes in the human world,one belongs to misa because jealous fell in love with her and killed someone to save her life resulting in his death accidentely extending her life far beyond it's natural ending point,the one Ryuk had which wasn't his because he stole it from another shinigami, and rems which she killed L with to extend and save misa's life once again because misa made the shinigami eye trade taking away half of her remaining life-span but it was given back because even though female shinigami (Rem) didn't fall in love with misa (which would have been weird consitering they are both girls), she thought of misa as a daughter so she still died because she killed L to help misas life. And if nobody knew that, consider me the biggest death note fan on this ask a ninja fans website.peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

There were 4, Ryuk's, Rem's, Misa's, and the last one belongs to Light.
