Yeah Deathnote is a good show. IF you see if from episode 1-all. if not ur lost.

Really at its basis it is a mystery crime story. The real mystery of it is all is how will those two opposing players will make there move, like a chess game. One is a basically a murder and the other is a detective.

Although there is a twist, the main character, which is the murder (Kira, which means killer) has a supernatural book known as a "Deathnote" which was left by a Shinigama (Direct translation is death god, but is basically the Japanese version of the Grim Reaper).

It is really seeing how the Detective(s) are trying to catch this Kira character and how Kira acts in response which makes it so interesting to watch it.

The Story was originally a Manga, then an anima, then an actual live action movie.

...*shrugs*.....it's definitely not for everyone though.........it has a lot of talking and some action.....(the action is mostly mind games between the two sides).....but when the action starts happening, it hooks you.....
