The Basics

If you expect a crit or comment you should comment someone else's work. Be curteous people. If you get a comment return it. And if someone doesn't return... put them in that little black book.

Put a title for you poem or just have it say "untitled". Other things such as OTS (on the spot), unfinished, genre, or anything resonable is allowed.

Check out The Shadow Center please!

(I'll add more later, and for our future "Help" thread, it would be great if anyone could contribute to it. Anything from writing to giving advise on critiqueing would be great!)

Feel free to message me about anything.

It's a really old rule poem I wrote:

1. must rhyme w/ the last line.
2. Use alliteration.
3. Show something in a mirror.
4. Use the oxymoron "thunderous silence."
5. State a desire.
6. Use the word "sympathy."
7. Reference a song lyric.
8. Use an image with three pieces/parts.
9. Personify a rock.
10. Use color.
11. Use a metaphor or simile.
12. Use the word "prayer," or refer to it.
13. Use the word "death," or refer to it.
14. Use the phrase "dancing shoes."
15. Use onomatopoeia.
16. Must rhyme with the first line.

I'll sing you a lullabye
Behind the Barracuda, before twelve
I see your face in the mirror, staring back at me
In thunderous silence
How I want to feel you
and sing to you words of sweet sympathy
The batter swings and the summer flies, as I look into my angel's eyes.
An angel of darkness, intelligence, and beauty
Whose heart is not a rock- hard, unfeeling, and bitter
But a heart of bright, yellow gold
It burns like the sun and lights the world
And when it's gone, I pray that it returns
Causing the death of melancholy lonliness
Lace up your dancing shoes, motherfucker!
C'mon, let's do it again, 'til the moon is high...
