First up:
Poppy Mellow
I forgot who I am today, so I'll just be who I was yesterday.
Thick, black liquid courses through my veins,
flows from my fingertips, and starts a fire.
I throw my life on a memory as I throw my corpse on a pyre.
I try to separate fact from fiction, but I have failed before and will fail again.
Fall asleep in a poppy field, let the opiates erase time.
Wake up in a poppy meadow; opiates erase the pain.
A million miles from a dying sun lies a dying son.
"I'm alright, it's all fun, I'm O.K." lies the dying son.
The sun implodes and becomes a vacuuming black hole.
The sun emotes, but alas, it is sucked in by the black hole within.
The stars are frightened they'll lose their light;
the stars are frightened they'll lose their life.
I forgot who I was yesterday, so I'll just be whoever I am today.
I watch the sun burn and crash
in a glorious ball of orange that distorts the clouds;
it beautifies them.
It defies any indication someone may have that only humans can be
heroic;
as well it defines that only humans make horrible
poets.
The heart swells like a rose in bloom,
but Spring is choked in tears.
It's only been several years,
but one still can't find the courage to let life resume.
Fall asleep in a poppy field, let the opiates erase your pain.
Wake up in a poppy mellow and find the will to live again...
