Ask A Ninja Fans

When a ninja is hired to kill someone or something, he spends month on the process. They hides in somewere where he can see his target and plan.
If the target has any failure like smells one particulary flower every morning, the nin goes there at night and put poison on the flower. In the next morning, the target smells it and die.
Only if there's no space to do this kind of thing, ninjas grab swords and attack, and even then, they don't face the enemy directaly. They starts a small fire somewere in the house of the target, and attacks on the other end, overnumbering the unadviced soldiers who were allarmed with the fire.
About ninja training to kill samurai, yes, Samurais were the deadliest enemy of a ninja. But ninjas didn't face of a samurai, and his samurai skill's training were more to run from samurais pursuiters.
Ninja Sword is also a lie. Ninjas don't uses Katana - The best sword ever. Katana is an expensive sword, and only samurais had then. Ninja's sword were the Ninja-to, a low quality blade that usualy brakes after some slashes.
BTW: FYI - Ninjas females were usualy hookers who Sells theyr "holes" to get information for the male ninjas to "fight" his target. And since ninja clans are family, If you are a ninja, your mother was a prostitute. A cheap one!

you just like being objective dont you?

ok so lets look at pirates then.
pirates are a rough assortment of motherless bastards who are too unskilled to find any sort of decent work. they lack any sort of heirarchal organization with the exception of "im the captin so what i say goes or i shoot you."
they all had scurvy or died of gangrene. and it's safe to assue that a lifetime of wenching and whoreing and raping would leave them with a nasty assortment of std's.
as far as weaponry goes a couple of flint lock pistols and any peice of metal that they could stick a handle on.
their warfare tactics involved very little actual skill and alot of scare tactics and pomp.

so if ur a pirate then you mother didnt want you,
you have no workable talents
you have a list of diseases a foot long
ur probably illiterate and couldnt read this list anyways.
they best thing you have going for you in combat is you're all very frightening to look at.

sound fair?
- Lack of Skill:
If a pirate, or a sailor indead, has no useful skill to survive in the sea, he has no use on the ship, and is only occuping space.
Pirates were woodcrafters so good that in emergency they would manufacture pad limbs to his comrades.
Sailing itself is an art, to recognise routes, to develop ships and mast, use wind, etc. They could use powder for long before the land soldiers completely uses it.

The crew has a solid hierarchy. Not only the capitain, but the 3 degrees of mate, there was division of obligations, functions and tasks, from Kitchen to sailing. By the way, what is ninja's hierarchy?

Scurvy and gangrene was a risc of all seamen (I SAID SEA-MEN!). Because of thas risk and courage, modern medicine had lots of material about these diseases. STD was commom on any envoriment on "the old tmes". Especialy among the ninjas female spies. The pirates were only predators on this field.

As I said, they were anachronic on their owm time by using firearms and cannons. They had good relations with the sarracen world (who developed compass and lens). Theyr swashbuckling skills were world-known. Barth Roberts and sir Henry Morgan were masters of brandishhes.

Scare tatics? So... eh... nobody should fear a destroyer?

Illiteracy? Grace O’Malley (c.1530- c. 1603) William Kidd (1645-1701) were poets themselves. And piracy were writen by some guys like Daniel Defoe, Lord Byron, Julio Verne, Robert Louis Stevenson, Emilio Salgari, J.M Barrie, Rafael Sabatini... How many Great names of litterature wrote a single line about ninjas?
lets make sure we arent forgetting to distinguish pirates from privateers. sir henry morgan for example, a privateer, a paid seaman acting under the consent of the crown. different from a pirate acting under no ones authority but his own captain.

im afraid i must conceed many of your points to some extent. sea-faring is an art and i should have taken that into consideration. but ninjutsu is also a form of art. as is espionage and the ninjas were some of the first to use power as a weapon [Arquebus and various types of explosives]

ninja organization:
historically, ninja groups were small and structured around families and villages, later developing a more martial hierarchy mirroring that of samurai and the daimyo. These certain ninjutsu trained groups were set in these villages for protection against raiders and robbers.

As a martial organization, ninja would have had many rules, and keeping secret the ninja's clan and the daimyo who gave them their orders would have been one of the most important ones. also there would have been shugodai and detputies creating a very ridgid caste system.

also, "Ninja museums" in Japan declare women to have been ninjas as well. They were sometimes depicted as spies who learned the secrets of an enemy by seduction [as a prostitute as you suggest] ; though it's just as likely they were employed as household servants, putting them in a position to overhear potentially valuable information.

as far as ninja narration, ninja prefer aa life of secrecy and would therfore prefer not to be written about, however, there have been several books written but because all of the authors are of eastern origins none of them really made it big in the world of the west...fine, point goes to the pirates on this one.
Corsairs or "privateer" is considerated pirates. Just not formaly because they divided "piracy accepted by the government" because, well, governments WANTED they to hack and slash the enemies' ships.

I NEVER said that ninjitsu was not an art. I only said that is not a "Heads on" art and ninjas didn't kills everything they sees. Must at all, because they were not stupid. But that make them a lot less "amazing slayers" that you nins belive you are.

Ninjas (east warriors in general) using power was only late XVII. Pirats had cannons on the XVI century. Chineses were the first ones to use powder, and british of the XIV Century the first ones to used it as weapon largely. Curiously, the east discovered powder, but had to buy the means to use it as weapon.

About literacy, why the samurai is largely known on the west? Tsun Tzu is even a reference nowardays with "the art of the war". Secrecy or lacky of interest on the real ninja... choise your excuse.

Yeah, you agreed with me that female ninjas were hookers. It's a good start. Now, what about Katana? Were it ninja weapon? Because on the west, the best swords were the Spanish sabre, and pirates did in fact possessed it.

Pirates capitains usualy were richer than small countries. One single well-succedded pillaging to a village or a cargo ship could guarantee the crew for years. They could afford cannons (as expensive as little castles that time) fire weapons, and spanish-stelll sabers.
make your excuses as you will but i like to think its different.

true, ninjas didnt kill everything they saw and the belief that ninjas are/were almighty invincible killers is one of those views that makes ninjas loose credibility.

true about the katana too. ninja didnt use the longer more in the way swords. they had shorter strait blades that were less burdensome. as far as quality of these weapons im sure they varied but the fact in and of itself is irrelevant. and yes, toledo steel is apperently some of the best quality steel in the world but its not the quality, its how you use it.

truthfully most of the kids running around on here have no idea what they're talking about and think that anime is real life. try not to generalize us all so badly on their account.
ninjas not good guys pirates not good guys samurai not good guys, check. also in accordance.
cowboys? wtf? where did that come from?
but remember, good or bad is often a mattter of perspective.
dude fuckin leonardo from the ninja turtles had 2 katanas, and if you would consider him a ninja then your retarted.
Oh! Ninja turtle! great source to support your oppinion! I'm convinced! If a giant cartoon turtle can use a katana and call itself a ninja, ninjas must uses katanas despite history and logics!
man, ive been workin so hard and you come in a jack up the reputation i was workin on with frakin ninja turtles. well done...disgrace upon your house.
Just to be clear:

Ninjas were not the good guys. Pirates were not the good guys either.

Samurais were not the good guys. They were feudal opressors.

Cowboys, definitivaly, were not the good guys.
your slackin off hardman, its been like 2 days and i remain unreffuted. but thats what we expect from your kind
... Excuse-me, but were there arguments to reffute? I thought you agreer with me on everything I said! Ninjas are not top warriors, didn't used Katana, Toledo steel was the best weapon on the west and pirates used it, Nin moms were hookers, etc...

You just lowed the way yo ninjas view youselves. My job is done!
hardly.
ninjas were top warriors, assasins, spies etc.
the ninjato or ninjaken was shorter and allowed for better use in close quarters combat [the cabin of a pirate ship perhaps?] where a katana would be severly limited in use. and ninja had other weapons too, smoke bombs, caltrops, shurkiens, bo shurkiens, all manner of items they could adapt into a weapon.
toledo steel may have been the best in the world but japanese master toshikage jushichikajo says that "even if you own a sword or dagger worth 10000 peices, it can be overcome by 100 spears each worth 100 peices." thats from a copy of daimyo house codes. it responds to two of your arguments at the same time i believe.
female ninjas used seduction to garner information but it wasnt their sole means to gain this info. a position as a household servant would also suffice but sex is way more fun then working.

if the ninjas veiw on anything has been lowered its the pirtes ability of argumentation. [even if i quite enjoy our verbal sparring]
