Do you practice it? I was thinking about actually trying it in real life so I'm just trying to get all the info. And yes, I'm certainly qualified. I've had gymnastics and extensive dance training. So, you know, I won't break my neck trying to do any crazy stuff. :)

Hi. I'm also 14 years old and i've been practicing Parkour for 18 months. I think vaults are really important in parkour to jump over fences, benches and other things. But it's correct that flips and other 'cool stuff' aren't parkour.

well I never did this parkour thing. It wasn't around when I was a kid (by that I mean, it wasn't popular, don't know anything about it's origins or what not). Sounds to me though like it's at least a good way to stay in shape. Being able to do a 540 and an aerial though is more martial arts isn't it? I mean, when I learned to do those I was practicing Capoeria. To me, parkour is sort of like that, at least as far as I can tell, it's Capoeria with running instead of the ginga, and no rhythm or instruments. That's just the vibe I get from it. I have no strong feelings about the practice one way or the other, as long as they aren't touching my car ;) Seriously though, I know next to nothing about it, other than the very little i've seen on tv or heard from the younger folks who talk about it in vague sentences.

Good to know some younger people are into parkour Eshiyu. Most people tend to confuse Parkour and free running, both of which are great fun, great excercise, and horribly dangerous. I myself have broken countless bones while doing both, yet can't seem to stop. However, on one point I must disagree with you my friend, in most cases Parkour does require that you have no fear of major injury. You will get hurt doing it I can promise you that, so if that thought scares you, tuck your tail and run now. If not, you deserve the respect of many and the thrill of the sport is very much worth the pain you will suffer.

Wow, good to hear there are some people who know the difference between parkour and free running!

My interest definitely lies with parkour. I practice a style of running called ChiRunning, which applies principles of tai chi to running, in order to make it highly efficient and natural. I'm now wanting to expand it to include parkour.
