Ask A Ninja Fans

Do you practice it? I was thinking about actually trying it in real life so I'm just trying to get all the info. And yes, I'm certainly qualified. I've had gymnastics and extensive dance training. So, you know, I won't break my neck trying to do any crazy stuff. :)

Um. My friend is really into it. Hes pretty good too. I dont really do it, but I still think its pretty cool. I can do like a few simple things (walk on my hands, front handsprings, tornado kicks, kip ups, blah blah blah). I'm gonna be able to do more stuff in the summer cos I'm currently working on my aerial and 540 kick.

If you need any links to websites or something just ask, cos I know a bunch of websites that can help you.

540 kick? Thats more of tricking to me...

To Mr. The Frog,
Well, much kudos on the aerial, and the 540, and no doubt all the rest of the terrifyingly ninja activities he can yet perpetrate. I as yet can throw a remote control in a pretty ariel fashion (spelling mistake intended - i really throw like the Little Mermaid) and I can Kip like a mother-liker (Kip where I am from means take a snooze).
But - isnt the absolute core or Parkour to have absolute stone cold frosty nothing fear of death and injury? Sure, being a little french ninjette (see District 13) helps a whole bunch, but the core is to have no problem with having a catastrophically bad interaction with a bannister railing four stories below where you were aiming for?
Mais oui? Mais weeeeeee.....krunch.
Ou est le 'hopital, si vous plait? Mon 'spine' est dans mon 'ankles' ?

Thank you. I've never really thought about the definition of parkour like that. I usually tell people "Its the ability to run from the cops" XD

That entirely depends on the ambulance you are in being faster than the cop car following it.
'Ambulance' - the natrual sucessor to the Taxi movies.

Well, honestly, anyone can do Parkour, it just depends how fast you pick up the 'tricks' really...

Ive been in and out of it, because once i start, im distracted ^^; and i always seem to want to start in the winter O.o...

But yeah, its cool...Parkour can be pretty easy, well, some of the stuff...Vaulting, kongs, etc...But some stuff is tricky, and you gta watch it when you do some things for the first time...The main thing you gotta watch is your ankles...And obviously, your neck if youre gonna do some tricking like The Iron Frog up there...Sure, trickings cool, but its not actually a part of parkour...

Apparently, Parkour is a self -discipline sport...I have to find the actual quote from the founder or something...But yeah, tricking isnt erally parkour, but hey, it sure is cool...Soon as summer gets here im gna do some shiz, if i can...

Parkour + Tricks (eg. 540 kicks) = Looking very ninja like =P

Funny you should mention ankles...heh...

Last Saturday I sprained my ankle attempting an areal. =/

So I'm kinda scared to do anything else for a little while lol.

It really hurt lol.

That's mostly why I haven't been online lol.

Ah, thats a bummer....But yeah, during any kind of parkour and tricking shizzle you gotta take care of your body, especially wrists, and ankles i guess...as well as everything else.

You should always start off with the small things. Like vaults.

Yeah. I've done some gymnastics in the past and I guess I thought that I still knew how to do an aerial. I was pretty much wrong lol.

hi. im into parkour myself and have been doing it for quite a long time. You say you do front rolls and hand springs, but it is all useless in parkour. ALL OF THE OTHER COMMENTS POSTED HERE ARE WRONG. PARKOUR IS NOT DOING HAND SPRINGS AND COOL STUFF AND HAVING NO FEAR OF DEATH AND MAJOR INJURY. Parkour is getting from point A to point B as quickly and efficiently as possible. So, you have to learn vaults, climbs, wall kicks, etc. But if you want to do that cool stuff like flips and stuff thats not necessary to get from one place to another quickly, learn free running, which is different. I am into parkour and I am only 14! So you can get into to at any age. I can do a wall flip, which is free running, but I can also do some vaults, wall kicks, climbs, rolls, etc. GOOD LUCK!
